“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.”  Rom 12:2

Generation Y.E.S.S. (Young Examples of Spiritual Substance) is a social outreach ministry of NLCC geared at mentoring the youth of our community.  Our goal is to impart life lessons and skills into the next generation by building solid relationships and having real-life discussions. We are determined to address situations that may not be comfortable, but are necessary in order to make positive changes in the lives of our young people and impact our community.

This generation has been marked as “Generation X,” but we believe that this label will be destroyed through Generation Y.E.S.S.  These children are not a lost generation, but rather the product of a lost generation.  It is now our responsibility to step in, correct the former ways, and tell our youth that they do not have to be another statistic.  They are valuable to society and capable of living a successful life. Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.” This is undoubtedly the foundational concept behind what we are trying to accomplish through Generation Y.E.S.S.

We are honored to have the opportunity to mentor some our young teens at Columbus Middle School.  The boys group is called “Men of Elevation” and meets on campus every Tuesday.  The girls group is called “Women of Virtue” and meets on campus every Monday.  The purpose of these groups is to discuss the real-life issues that they are facing and to hold them accountable for their actions.  These young men and women are encouraged to make better life choices and realize that there are consequences for their actions; good and bad.

If you have any questions about Generation Y.E.S.S. or would like to know how your child can get involved, please email us at
